Another activity we did during music camp was make shaker bottles. We asked the campers to bring a clear bottle with a screw-on lid. They then filled them with various small objects, including jingle bells, until they got the sound they desired.

Guitars
We hot glued a paper towel tube to the side of a shoe box and the campers painted them.
We added rubber bands for the strings.
And on our last day of camp we had a parade!

Fun with Water Bottles
One thing I love to do for camp is ask the campers to bring items from home. Last week I asked each of them to bring some sort of squeeze or spray bottle that they could use all week. Even though we always have these items at camp, it was so much more meaningful when brought from home. Not only did they love using their own, but they swapped with other campers to see how others' worked.
It's those little things!

Science Camp - Colored Ice Cubes
I colored water and froze it in ice cube trays. The campers had fun putting the melting cubes on paper, rolling it around, and watching the colors blend!

Moon Pizzas
Today was our last day of Space Camp. We ended it with "moon pizzas".
Blowing to cool them.
The aroma of pizza baking in our two toaster ovens was delicious!
I can already see that the 9 weeks of camp are going to fly. We are having so much fun! Next week is Mad Science Week, a new theme for us and I am having fun putting together lots of activities. This is one of my favorite books:
Since camp runs Monday through Thursday, I will enjoy 3-day weekends!
I kicked off my 3-day weekend enjoying bevs with my daughter!

His Idea
Last Friday, one of my campers asked about this week's space camp. He thought awhile and then said, "We need a rocket. One that people can stand in." Believe me, I did put some thought into this, but couldn't quite put it together in my head. My daughter said, "Oh, he won't remember on Monday." Ha! Not only did he remember, but he had it all designed in his head. He told me exactly what he needed, how it needed to be constructed, and what needed to be placed on the outside.
The only part he is still figuring out is the door to get inside. He wanted me to cut the paper so it opened like a door. But then it hung open. And so he used tape to keep it closed. But then it ripped when he tried to open it. He decided he'll give it another day of thought.
And I know he will!

Super Bubbles!
I think someone might have squirted a bit too much dish soap into the buckets of water...but oh, the fun they had!
