The Flower Shop

This week is Gardening Camp, so I set up the house corner as a flower shop. How nice was it that someone donated lots of fake flowers?

I had purchased this little garden gate over 10 years ago when we were in temporary housing during the building remodel. I thought it might work to keep kids out of a certain area of the upstairs patio. We never used it, and I've felt guilty all these years that it just sits in the storage room. Ha! Finally, so many years late, I've found a use for it!

One of the sections at the end swings open so they use it as a little gate to get in and out. We attached bells so it rings like in a little shop.

I added grocery carts so they could push their flower purchases around.

One camper decided to "sell" flowers to everyone in the classroom.

Including me.

Tomorrow we plant seeds. Happy gardening!

Stars and Stripes Camp - Our Warmest Day Yet

6 weeks into summer camp and we finally almost got to triple digits! We are fortunate to have quite a bit of shade, but it still gets hot. I decided to open the doors earlier in the morning before it got too hot.

Painting is always more fun outside!

The boys built Lego boats for the water table.

Music is always more fun outdoors, too!

A shady corner is perfect for the sand area.

The best hot-weather treat is Otter Pops!

Since today was the last day of Stars and Stripes Camp, we had a little parade wearing our flag headbands, flag necklaces, holding "sparklers"

Next week: Backyard Animals Camp. In a bit cooler weather.

Flag Necklaces

We had no camp last week, due to Vacation Bible Study using all the classrooms. We are back in full swing this week with Stars and Stripes Camp.

Flag Necklaces:

Someone years ago donated small rectangular pieces of wood with holes drilled on the sides. We realized these could be used for necklaces.

The first step was to paint them white.

I then cut small rectangle pieces of blue tape that were placed on the upper left hand corner.

The campers added the lines.

They applied small stars.

Flag Necklaces!
