What's Most Important

My daughter snapped these pictures as I was giving comfort to several children last week. They touch my heart because they remind me that my most important job is to be there for them. These children must know they can trust me. Come to me no matter what. Know that I will be there always. I will stop everything to sit with a child who needs that extra hug, that extra dose of comfort, that ear to listen. Being a teacher has taught me great patience. It's softened my heart. It's opened my ears.

Sensitive.
Loving.
Caring.
Trusting.

As I sit here on my first day of summer vacation, I realize how grateful I am. I will miss them with all my heart, but this break is important. It gives me time to pause, reflect, re-energize.

Ice Cream!

This week was our most popular camp: Junior Chef's Camp. Every year we have a waiting list. I thought by putting it at the end of the summer it might not fill, but I was wrong. (Today ended our summer camp series.)

Making ice cream is always sort of magical. Pouring the liquid ingredients into the ice cream maker, turning it on, watching and waiting, then eating! Adding sprinkles is the ultimate touch for preschoolers. I was smart to have this part been done outside!

There is nothing like homemade ice cream!
