Yesterday we made snowmen out of ice cream. And even though it was close to freezing outside, it was a tad bit too warm indoors for these guys and they melted quickly. {Not to mention that I got distracted with a parent who wanted a tour of the classroom and I forgot to put the box in the freezer beforehand.}
I sent home a note a couple of days prior asking the children to bring some small edible items that they could place on their snowmen. Aren't these peas and carrots cute? They are actually jelly beans! Thanks to one of my creative parents for finding them!
It was actually kind of cute that they were melting so quickly, because it reminded us of a finger play we've been learning, about a snowman who can't play out in the sun or he will melt away.
A big thank you to NurtureStore for inspiring me to try this!
Tomorrow: It's hot cocoa day! The weather is perfect for it!

I was happy to find your Sharing Saturday! Thanks!
DeleteWhat a fun idea! I bet the kids enjoyed this!
ReplyDeleteThey really did! I wish the ice cream wasn't so soft, but then again, it did make scooping a lot easier. I've found that they really enjoy activities when they get to bring things from home to contribute. I have a feeling there was a lot of leftover Halloween candy in there!
DeleteSuper cute!! We almost made these this week too!! Instead we made mashed potato snowman the kids decorated with veggies =-) Thanks for linking up to TGIF! Have a great week,
