Thanks to parent helpers, we've been enjoying cooking activities in our 3's class about once a week.
Today we made blueberry bread, but instead of a loaf pan, we used a Bundt pan. We used a blueberry bread recipe similar to this one.
Cups are labeled with each child's name prior to the start of the lesson. These cups are used blending the flour and liquid mixtures.
I love cooking activities because they help develop many motor skills:
- Stirring
- Patting
- Pressing
- Dipping
- Scrubbing
- Cleaning
You can read more about this here.
Once everyone has mixed their ingredients and poured them into the
Bundt pan, we baked the bread and let it cool. Just in time to enjoy with our snack!
Whatever was left over, we placed on a tray to share with our parents/caregivers when they picked up the preschoolers at dismissal. They always love sharing what they've made!

I love cooking with kids! This recipe looks delicious. How cool are your classes!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amie! I admit it took me awhile as a teacher to embrace this. I struggled with how to manage it with 16 children. Prep work is crucial!
