Our last week of preschool has been all about the ocean, but I love The Rainbow Fish because it incorporates friendships. We've talked a lot lately about being good friends in our 3's class. They are so excited to have special friends, but we've had to work on including others in our play.
In the book, The Rainbow Fish has these bright scales that he eventually shares with his friends. I used cut cupcake wrappers.
Making the fish is easy. Cut a triangle from a paper plate and use that triangle for the fin. (I admit I need these easier projects on the last week of class!)
I love that the same preschoolers still love to get their hands in there. All through the year, right up until the last day.
Oh, and the googly eyes. I've mentioned those before. Pick up a pack through Oriental Trading, or at your local craft store. They always put a smile anything!

This is wonderful - we made fish last year but it's something that I should revisit over the summer
ReplyDeleteMy 2 year old LOVED this. We had to make all the paper plates in the house into fish, including the ones we painted on earlier in the week. It's the most involved he's been in an activity which doesn't include cars! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE hearing this, Anna! How wonderful!
