Oatmeal Cookies for Dad

Yesterday at Busy Bakers Camp we made oatmeal cookies.

Because this was a large group of 18 preschoolers, I welcomed smaller groups to help with the various stages of making the cookies. Stage 1 was adding and mixing the dry ingredients.

Stage 2 was putting together the wet ingredients and stage 3 was mixing everything with the electric mixer.

Stage 4 was scooping the dough onto parchment-covered cookie sheets. We used a small ice cream scoop (because you know I am always working those fine muscles!).

They had to squeeze the handle so the dough would be released. That took quite a bit of work for the younger campers.

Then, they patted the dough with their palms to flatten the dough a bit.

While the cookies baked, we read (and loved!), The Cow Loves Cookies by Karma Wilson.

After we enjoyed our cookies with our lunch, we realized we still had quite a bit left. We decided to decorate a baggies and give the extra cookies to our dads for Father's Day.

Happy Father's Day to all our wonderful dads!

  1. I love your oatmeal cookies and they look so simple to make with kids. I will definitely have to give them a go with my littlies. :)
