We found these pop tubes at a garage sale many years ago. They are pretty worn out, some do have holes, but they still provide great fun!
Yesterday I decided to duct tape them in place to use with water.
What fun the preschoolers had pouring water through them and catching it from the other end!
They tried connecting several tubes together but realized that this made it harder for the water to travel. I overheard one preschooler tell another, "water cannot go uphill".
They decided they wanted the end of one hose to be connected to this water mill. They placed the bucket beside it to catch the water.
So much thought went into this activity! I think they could've spent the entire day moving the tubes around and trying new things!
I've left it all in place, so we can explore again today.
Water play on a warm summer day. It can't get much better than that!

Summer time really allows you to play with water. I like how they played with the hose. I had 2 little girls at my home, my daughter and her cousin and today I filled a bucket of water, gave them 2 cups and told them to fill a little tyke pool. It was funny watching them walk with cup, spilling water along the way to fill the pool. Still it was time well spent and they had fun.

Oh yes, Jillian, that's what I love to watch, too! It takes great coordination to walk while carrying water. Thank you!
DeleteI have these and never ONCE thought of using them for water play! Guess now I better go find my basket of pop tubes!
ReplyDeleteWe used them a few years ago for water play and then they made their way to the gym. I completely forgot about it until I was setting up the water tables outdoors the other day. Funny how that happens! ;)
