I've been teaching preschool for 14 years in a small private program. I've wanted to be a teacher ever since I can remember, but didn't actually start my journey until after my own children were born. I was hired as an "interim" teacher for someone going on maternity leave but she decided to stay home with her new baby. Here I still am and love my preschool and my colleagues.
When I first started on the teaching journey, I felt a bit lost. I was thankful to meet some wonderful ECE teachers on the internet who answered all of my questions. I can never thank them enough for all their guidance! And so, I wanted to pass that on by providing a website for anyone who is interested in the education of preschoolers. A wise mentor of mine once said, "Teach what you know and continue to grow." I love that quote!
I love my job and learn more each year. I've read many Reggio Emelia books, have visited other schools that are Reggio-influenced, and love to incorporate it into our program. I also love Maria Montessori's Practical Life Skills and Bev Bos' love for play. I am passionate about what I do and love to share this with others!
I teach a class of 3 year olds on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (9:30 - 12:30). I teach a class of 2 year olds on Tuesdays and Thursdays (9:30 - noon). Our preschool also has a 1-day class for 2's and a 4-day class for 4 and 5 year olds, taught by other teachers in the classroom next to mine.
Aside from being a teacher, I am a wife of 26 years and mother of 3 children, ages 23, 20 and 17. When I'm not teaching or playing on the computer, I'm probably riding my bike, weight lifting, running, or taking pictures somewhere. I love to be active and I think this helps me keep up with my little friends at preschool.
Thank you for stopping by!
